Tarangire National Park is famous for two things above all: its enormous elephant herds and its ancient, otherworldly baobab trees. Centred on the Tarangire River — a vital dry-season water source — the park draws huge concentrations of wildlife between June and October, when animals from the surrounding ecosystem converge on its permanent water.

Less crowded than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire offers a quieter, more intimate safari experience while still delivering exceptional game viewing, particularly for elephant, and some of Tanzania's best birdlife.
